im going to buy an iphone from my friend but heres the deal.

im currently on a contract with O2 where i get 1000 minutes and unlimited texts for £30 a month. If i go ahead and buy this iphone will i need to buy anything extra in order to make the iphone work with this sim card.

Also will i have any complications when i buy the iphone as ive heard that sometimes you have to "activate" the iphone with the contract. Im new to the iphone world as you can probably tell!!!

:D

My understanding is this:

- you can use that SIM in an O2-locked iPhone for calls and texts
- while away from your home wi-fi, you will not be able to browse internet or get email or use maps etc unless you add the Web bolt-on (uses the GSM and Edge networks) or the wifi bolt-on (uses The Cloud)
- you will not be able to get iPhone-specific features like Visual Voicemail in any case

Hope that helps.

thankyou very much,

for both your responses in both my threads. Finally someone who just says it as it is!!!

much appreciated!!! :D
