...to use my MacBook on my new telly? Tis a Samsung HD with HDMI. I know I need the Apple Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter, and then I was thinking of this cable. Basically I need to know if the Apple Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter is DVI-D/DVI-I; Single or Dual Link. By the looks of it its DVI-D Dual Link, but I want to make sure.

Thanks people!

Well, the MacBook is single-link only. I have a feeling that the adapter only does DVI-D, because there have been some people who've trieed to use an analog signal out of one and not been successful...

Yeah the MacBook is single link, but the adapter (looks like) it's dual. Look closely and its dual-link. Identify dual and single link.

Will this effect the ability to use my MacBook on the telly?

EDIT: Thanks, diametric! You have cleared up my problem, and my proposed setup will work! Cheers.

To use my mac on my SD telly, I just use a Apple video adapter, however, if you want to take the HD route thingy, the mini-dvi to dvi (the apple one) and then connect it to the cable you want to use to connect it up to your tv.

I found this, "Apple's DVI adapter is DVI-D--not that there's any mention of this on the packaging or in the product's description online. And why is that a problem? Apple's the only company that makes mini-DVI adapters."

So, no, the cable is only DVI-D.

EDIT:

Scratch all that: No worries ChrisG.
