Well i've finally sorted out the differences between the iMac G5 and the intel iMac, so now I'm wondering what the next intel iMac wil look like from a hardware aspect. Any thoughts?

Are you asking what the upgrades will be or what is will actually look like?

Upgrade-wise, it probably will have a slightly faster processor. Whatever processor they will use probably isn't finished being developed yet. You'll probably see a bigger hard drive.

From a looks aspect it will probably look exactly the same.

I was thinking about hardware upgrades, i guess i assumed it would physically look the same (doh!)

Because sometime in August is the birthday (8th?) for the iMac I was thinking they might give us a new form factor. The current one is 2 years old (if I'm thinking straight)

Nothing radical, but I'll imagine that they will mimic the new ACD when they come out this summer (as in similar stand, not aluminum).

I'd hope to see a lot less white plastic around the bottom as well.

Maybe we get a new panel inside. A new case would be nice! Faster CPU is for sure - Macbook Pro

Other Stuff

Intel iMac [Rev.B+] could have maybe new graphics aswell. Either an ATI Radeon X1600XT or the upcoming RV560 X1700?
Faster SuperDrive - if the 16x fit (size,heat,noise...)?
New Panels - higher contrast|faster reactiontime|brightness...?
FireWire 800 ?
...
...

FW800 was dead before it launched.
FireWire is FAR from dead, and it is alive (not quite alive as USB but very alive). For all those people doing video editing with Final Cut Pro and such FireWire 800 is very use full for scratch discs. It's also very useful for those with maxed out internal drives and STILL need more storage (especially on the G4s that have the GB limit.

You are totally wrong. FW800 isn't dead, it isn't even alive yet. Give it some time. It will replace FW, just not yet.
Yes, it will replace regular FireWire but it the main reason it hasn't yet is because A) hardly any PCs even use FireWire B) I have yet to see a PC with FW800 (but that doesn't mean there aren't any)

It might be nearing a couple of years old, but personally I love the design, and I would expect that Apple have reached a point where all they can do is streamline the current design.

As for the white space at the bottom, that suits me just fine. Helps me remember it is more than just a display! Everything looks perfectly proportioned.

Yah it's so up and coming that Apple made sure to put it on both its new pro laptops and its new consumer desktop machines...

oh no wait they didn't. they sure are pushing it hard.

Just because you don't use it doesn't mean that it's dead. There are plenty of people who do use FW800, and will vouch for the fact that it isn't dead. Using your logic, dual layer DVD's are dead, just because Apple didn't include it on the MacBook Pro.

The current form will not be 2 years old until this coming August (2006). The original iMac G5 came out in August 2004.

I hope apple brings back that lampish looking imac. I'm talking about the model that replaced the original imacs and it was the first model to offer a built in flat screen display.

I know a lot of people would like that and I still love that model but I don't think they'll ever go back. The current iMac is to so simple that I can't imagine a way they'll ever change it.

I got this image from a source close to Apple ;) :D
SO NOT!!

For some reason I don't like it. Maybe it's because I've been looking at an iMac everyday for about 7 months now, but I prefer the look of mine over that look.

I like that much better then the "chin" design. And.... dude you know there's a battery in the menu bar??

It might be the low battery indicator for Bluetooth. Although that usually has a Bluetooth logo inside the black battery.

EDIT: Actually, it isn't the same battery, either. There's no outline on the one for Bluetooth.

I actually like that design you posted, Mac_Freak. It makes it look wider than the current iMac. However, the current design is awesome as it is. I still think it would look cool if cut off a little bit of the bottom casing, like the design you are going for.

But like I said, already awesome design. :)

You haven't looked at PCs too recently, have you? Even the lowly $450 eMachines have FW now. It is not uncommon at all.

Now, when consumer-level FW800 devices are more common in the PC world, there will be FW800 on those machines as well.
