Fellow, iPhone mini 12 and 13 owners — will you upgrade to the 17 series now that Apple has revealed the new models? There’s nothing remotely close to the mini in size but the Air and 17 base model weigh 165 and 177 grams respectively.

If the Air was only 145 grams as previously rumored (and had a shallower camera), I might have put up with its size. But at present the next most attractive iPhone is still the 16e. So I'll be waiting at least for the 17e. The 13 mini should still be good for two or three years, however. I might also be looking at Android when the time comes.

iPhone 12 mini owner with 77% battery capacity - I am very tempted this year to get the base model 17. It's just so hard to give up this form factor in a phone 😭

Traveling over the past year has been a huge PITA with this battery, and it's hard to justify spending $$ to replace a battery in a phone this old.

Potentially upgrading to a Pro — but very frustrated with AT&T for excluding the 13 mini from their trade-in promo. Really throwing a wrench into my plan.

Apple should make a small “iPhone Classic” but the time for wishing has ended.

You can use an AI chatbot to generate schematics that you can print to test the height and width dimensions of the new iPhones.

For what it’s worth, the iPhone Air fits in the front pocket of my jeans, which are fairly typical straight leg. I cannot test depth but the Air seems less likely than the other iPhones to cause discomfort when sitting down.

One thing’s for sure. I will not walk around carrying my iPhone in my hand like so many guys do nowadays.

What will miss most is one-handed use.

I carry a small crossbody bag, many of them are unisex and don't look overly girly. It also looks better, I giggle when I see guys walking around with their giant brick of a phone in their front pockets or juggling car keys, wallet, and phone in their hands. They make purses for a reason.

I've kept my iPhone 12 mini but this year migrated some jobs to a new Watch SE and an iPad. For me that's a better value than a huge new iPhone, but it’s definitely a compromise. I hope to keep the 12 mini running for many years until Apple sells me either an untethered Watch or a cranial implant…

Probably sticking with 13 mini til obsolescence, I will go to Apple Store though just to see how the air feels in hand, to be honest though the air price point seems too high for what you get. A mini air sounds good

will retire my 12mini in 1Q 2026. Either 17 or 17e or (not as likely) 17Air. Will wait for real-world battery performance info.

LOL. It’s very ironic that even though they launched a much slimmer phone they also made it have even bigger screen than regular size iPhone. So technically Mini users do not have better options than they did last year

It won’t completely replace a mini size, but I'd compromise with a Razr-like iPhone. As of right now, my Apple Watch Ultra is my mini replacement. My iPhone stays home often unless I know I'll need it for photos or CarPlay or whatever. I think I'd be more interested in the iPhone Air if it wasn’t so large, at most keep it the same screen size as my 14 Pro with the thinner body.

Battery health in my 13 mini is down to 85% and I have to charge it every day, so will probably need a new battery next year, or I will upgrade to whatever is available then.

I have had 3 13 Minis and I think it's time to move on unfortunately. I love this phone but looking forward to a decent camera, performance and battery upgrade with the 17 Pro. Don't think the Air tickles my fancy in part because it's screen is even larger than the Pro

I’m leaning towards the iPhone Air. I will look ant all the new iPhones this Friday and then place an order. iPhone mini owners are the proverbial Japanese soldiers still fighting the war after it ends. I’m still one but not for long.

I just ordered a slim case for the iPhone Air to get a better idea of size and grip ahead of release date. I might order for ISPU on Friday morning if it works out.

I find around 71-72mm width (plus slim case) is tolerable for me. Not comfortable but workable. Not so sure about the Air's 74.7mm width. My brother has a 15 Pro Max and I'm constantly dropping it when I use it.
