I intend to have two Macs, an iPhone & an iPad all connected, whilst I systematically refresh until I get in ✌🏼.

You?

I wait till contract upgraders put them on marketplace as they need cash, and buy for 30-50% off retail. Works every year.
Which cell service does that without locking you into a 36 month "contract" for the discounts ?

I am thinking switch carriers when the 16 rolls out...

For years I have tried NOT to be in the launch day delivery set - ideally I am 5-7 days later. Why? From what I have seen over the years, the difference in manufacturing date can be a month by being a week later. That could very well be a month near the end, where Apple makes some small tweaks to the manufacturing process design to fix small problems they have caught before launch. I worked at a large computer manufacturer for years, and this is exactly what happened - engineering change notices, manufacturing change notices happened all the time.

Maybe it never mattered, but doing this I have not had any of the launch day weird defects that pop up on the forum by 0.5% of the customers - SO FAR. Maybe it's just superstition, but that's me...

Of course I’ll be ready with my phone (store app) iPad (store app) and MacBook Air (Safari) at pre-order launch time, refreshing each in turn until one gets in and I can order the pre saved configuration that I want, so that hopefully I can keep an over 10 year stretch of launch day phones running. But……
That said, I really don’t think there’s the need nowadays. Even popular configs seem to stay availability for a good while, with those less so for a couple of days (probably just until logistically they can’t make launch day rather than they have sold out). Certainly less stressful now, but I miss the heightened tension (a bit).

Same thing I always do: just have the Apple Store app open. Never had a problem.

He, could you explain a bit more please ? It is true ?
You go on contracts here but are not locked in, you can end/pay out phone anytime, and can even sell the phone and still pay it off monthly or in full.
You pay the plan plus cost of phone divided by 24 or 36 months.

Some people upgrade plans with new phone and sell them for the cash and keep using their old phone.

Oh okey, and in Canada do high think that I could get 25% like you said by doing that ? It seems too good to be true 😅

I generally don't pre-order. I probably won't order anything until October.

I will probably order an unlocked phone like I always do. I can't see ordering a carrier-locked phone. I don't think the benefits are worth it.

Will pre-order Pro Max 1TB. Not sure which color yet. And have it delivered to the closest Apple store.
