Ok, multi-task is out now, and what apps will you prefer for your apps in the dock: P.S.(misunderstand, not only 7).
Here is my list:
1. safari
2. twitter app
3. facebook
4. IM
5. ipod
6. email
7. RSS app
....

I think your a bit confused on how the multitasking on the iPhone works. You get as many apps as you want but every app needs to utilize one of the 7 background services, such as audio, location, and local notifications.

I think the OP was confused because they said they added 7 multitasking functions for developers.

when did they say you only get 7?

Is it? I read a blog, and the blogger said is 7, and the engadget video indicates something like 7 in the dock. So, lets change the title, and any one know how many apps it can do?

The Engadget iPhone OS4 first review video has 9 apps (Safari, Game Centre, Notes, iPod, Mail, Settings, Camera, Photos, Calculator) running in multitasking.

When Steve Jobs first demonstrated multitasking there were 12 (Mail, eBay, Tap Tap, ESPN Scorecentre, Photos, Messages, Settings, Facebook, Phone, Calendar, App Store, Notes) in the multitask dock.

No they said they were only going to discuss 7 of the major multi-tasking features.

There are many more but that's the only ones they discussed mainly cause they're the most important.
