Hi everyone, I mainly use my Mac for music production using logic x with lots of fairly intensive vst and plug ins and I’m finding that my Mac is running out of cpu and slowing now that I’m making more complex tracks. I’d like to upgrade to something that won’t break a sweat while I’m working on it but haven’t got a big budget. I’m currently still running a MacBook Pro mid 2012 i7 with 8gb ram and a 250ssd. I’ve been looking at old Mac Pro desktops as I know they’ve got xeon processors which I assume will be faster than my current one plus the ability to bang about 32gb of ram into it. Or maybe a iMac that’s sound 2-3 years newer than my MacBook Pro? Would I see a noticeable difference with these? I really can’t daddies to splash £1000 on anything newer than that. Omnisphere and izotope plug ins are smashing my current macs cpu to pieces and I’d love to not worry about overload.
Thanks I’m advance!

Ricky.

It's an old enough machine where I don't think you're going to notice any significant different since you already have an SSD. Save your money and put it towards your next macbook.

I have a 2011 mbp with 8gb of ram and an SSD so am pretty familiar - I find the machine nearly useless given how slow most things run these days. The constantly running fan is also beyond annoying.
