I'd imagine they'd feel somewhat similar to be honest with you on day to day work.

I think the biggest thing will be do you need portability sometimes? If so, the MacBook is a great choice.

If you use your computer primarily at your desk, I can assure you the large screen and faster processor would make the iMac be a great choice (screen in particular).
 
You can answer that question yourself actually. Are the day to day tasks you do CPU dependent? If they are not get the SSD MB.

Though your comparing a laptop to a desktop.... if you do not need the portability get the iMac, why would you want to work on a 13" screen instead of a 21.5"??
