I was recently wondering how Aple could improve their macbook pro laptop line, so I decided to ask it here to find out what you guys think. Okay here is mine:
I think Apple should add a touch sensor to the trackpad button so that it can sense left or right clicks like a mighty mouse.

make it like the old black IBM thinkpads. minus the useless track stick. these books have great battery life, are robust like nothing else and reliable beyond believe. just improve the looks a little bit. and don't add any expensive faetures (at least in the base model).

I think my MacBook Pro is the perfect mac laptop when it doesn't whine or get too hot.

The whine is fixed in new models, aren't they, and there's no way around the heat in any laptop with that kind of performance.

They just need to add a way to manually speed up the fans for when I prefer a colder laptop to a dead quiet laptop and I'll be in laptop heaven.

Jobs needs to add sum über 1337 hax0rz like mega-lazerz for theft protection!!!!111one(i^4)

I can't think of anything major that I would change about MBP, but then again, I don't have one.

For me it would be a MBP with firewire 800, longer battery life, less heat, and a trackpad with two buttons. Other than that my MBP is the best laptop I have ever owned. This thing is blazing fast and I can run windows with parallels!

The 15" MacBook Pro, shipping with 1 GB of RAM, a 120 GB HDD, a dual layer SuperDrive, no whining, doesn't get very hot, doesn't have any other problems, has a brighter screen and a 5+ hour battery life. Also, it would be kinda cool for the MBP to ship with maybe a voucher for a free game/other kind of app at the Apple store or something. :) (Yeah Sims 2!)

You can already do the touch pad thing with 3rd party software called SideTrack

I was thinking more about hardware than software.

Support for 3-4 SODIMMS on the 17" model... I could be completely wrong, but if it's still 1" thin, doesn't that mean that there's added area inside because of how much bigger the length and width are because of the screen size?

So yeah, sounds too good to be true, but 4 SODIMMS and support for 2GB sticks in each would be hardcore. Rocking out 8GB of RAM in a laptop? Tell me that wouldn't be awesome. Wallet-busting, but awesome nonetheless.

Daniel.

I personally would love the 17 inchers to have touch and convertable screens, other than that they are perfect :)

I would like a model that weighs 3.5 lbs or less with 6 or more hours of battery life. IBM and Sony already have laptops like this.

i really like the 4GB of upgradable memory idea. that and the low heat/noise suggestion would be good too. a definite yay on the 5+ hours of battery life and a larger/faster HD option would rock (like say in the neighborhood of 200 GB @ 7200RPM). the new 17" has the FW 800 and the DL superdrive back, now how about a 15" version with the same? i'd also like to see touchpad keys and a more programmable trackpad...:D

Keep the Aluminum PowerBook's hinge design, scrolling trackpad, keyboard, and motion sensor.

Make it as tough as a (pre-Lenovo?) ThinkPad.

Make the iSight optional.

Put the PC card slot back.

Give us back the expansion bay/second battery bay from the G3 series.

And call it a PowerBook!

Ditch aluminum. It passes too much heat along to the users hands, knees, and "sensitive" areas.

Oh, and one more thing: Stop soldering the processor to the motherboard. I read a review on Dell's XPS17010, and was surprised to see that they don't solder their processor. This allows one to replace the Core Duo with a Merom in the future. For such an expensive laptop, upgradability is a good plus.

speakers. can be easilly improved.

upgradeable cpu, and graphics cards which some laptops have are gladly welcomed too.
