I know the iPad mini is not loved by a lot of people but to me is the perfect form factor, its not small nor huge. I can type really fast and hold it in my hands the whole day without getting tired. But its not perfect, for me it would be nice if it finally includes USB-C and maybe smaller bezels or a larger screen on the same size that would be it for. I don't care if it has the same A12 but I want to share one single cable with all my devices, macbook, switch, phone, tablet. That would be perfect.

I love my Mini 5. But I wouldn't mind if Apple kept the same external dimensions and gave it the current Pro design language with USB-C and Face ID as well.

I would not upgrade if it did not at least get the "edge to edge" Pro screen, A14 chip and more RAM. That's how much I love the current Mini 5.

I too would like to see them keep the size small but change the bezel design. I’d prefer however to not be forced into folios cases just to achieve a front cover.

Rose Gold colour option, keeping the headphone jack, more RAM, a flash (the lack of one bothers me more often than the 8MP), slightly bigger screen in the same dimensions. I’d prefer to keep Touch ID.

A14, 4GB, headphone jack and a bigger screen in the same overall size and I’d probably jump on the refurbs as soon as they come around. Having gone from an iPad 3 to the Mini 5 I don’t think I can justify the upgrade at launch. The Mini 5 is still a great device.

If the overall size gets bigger I might end up going 7 years again - the Mini 5 is perfect to hold.

I want the current iPad Pro 11” shrunk down into an 8.9” form factor with the same resolution, RAM, and the same ppi as the current mini 5. That would be the ultimate killer device I would never not have with me. Give it the A14, pencil 2 support, and a special edition magic keyboard!
I haven't only begun to get used to the Magic KB for the 11" Pro...I can't imagine a keyboard on the even smaller iPad Mini. It'd probably be so cramped!

A redesign, Apple Pencil 2 compatibility, and an A14 chip.

iPad Pro design with accordingly small bezels, OLED display, Pencil 2 support. Give me that and I'd definitely roll with the smallest iPhone 12 and have all bases covered.

Stereo landscape speakers, waterproof, wireless charging, and the usual internal spec updates. I’d like the design to stay exactly the same, although ideally I’d like Nexus 7 dimensions.

I had a keyboard folio case with my Mini 2 when I had that. To be honest, it was cramped but you get used to it quickly (at least I did). But with the Mini 5, I strictly kept it as a consumption device and only put a folio cover on it. Any work-related things I do on my 12.9 Pro. But yes, it was cramped haha

I agree with this. You do actually get used to it pretty quickly. I would be happy with a smart folio or smart keyboard case even, just for typing on the commuter train or similar. At a desk I would use my external keyboard and trackpad setup. 3rd party options have just not been up to snuff.

Thinking like Apple
I would like a pro version of the mini, with A12Z and its led screen at 120hz and an update display including liquid retina.

Other than that the current mini is far ahead of todays needs so we really do have a capable tablet for today

This ^^^
Ive been craving to go back to the mini form factor, but after owning the iPP, it must have a similar design. Anything with a home button just doesn't sit well with me anymore. Not sure how comfortable a keyboard of that size would be though, but lets see what will come next year with the rumors!

Most important to me is that it remain “mini”.
This idea of going up in size takes it out of that arena. It’s the perfect size now.
If I wanted a 9. Or 10.5, That’s what I’d buy.
The current size is the perfect companion to my 12.9”.

Same thoughts here, hopefully no size increases.

KICKSTAND!! iPads will always be inferior tablets without a kickstand, but the mini's are worse because there is pretty much zero aftermarket support. Heck at this time I'd even take one of those super bulky, heavy cases just to get a kickstand.

Smaller bezels and larger screen would be great, although I'd be happy with smaller bezels smaller physical size as well. The only reason I tolerate iOS is because the size of the ipad mini is decent to carry around and it's really the only viable tablet in that size.

I’m a little divided on a kickstand. A built-in kickstand would add a lot of convenience but would add a little weight. And I’d want to be able to stand it up in either orientation, but a kickstand would probably only work in landscape. As a workaround, I just got a few small tablet stands and placed them in strategic locations. It works well enough but it’s not always ideal.

Just curious, by “tolerate iOS”, do you mean in comparison to macOS or Android?

I can see your point about standing it up in portrait mode, something like Apple News comes to mind that can only be used in portrait mode, at least on the iphone as I haven't checked it on the ipad in a while. I don't think it would add much weight at all, the kickstand on the surface pro is just plastic. It might add a tiny bit of thickness, but that space that didn't have kickstand could be used for a tiny bit more battery as well.

By tolerate iOS I mean versus any full OS, although personally I'm partial to Windows.
