Down on Copperline...
Here we rest, perhaps hours, days, weeks (months?) until Merom comes to Mac. So I was wondering what your speculations are about the changes, if any, Apple will make to the particular platform the launch with Merom.

No "Is it coming soon," no "should I buy now." This is the place to let your dreams fly, your chance to play at designing the next truly great thing from the folks at 1 Infinite Loop.

Any speculations are of course just that. Just don't go crazy; at least try to keep it economically and physically practical. We love to play the guessing game, so lets play it together. :D

As Mac Pro beat Dell's price for now, there is a possibilty that Apple already see its market share going up so want to start a price war in order to gain more share.

So we might see the new MBP actually has competitive price when compared with Dell's similar models, if not cheaper.

On the other hand, if Apple doesn't do this, the so-called "myth" is still myth: Apple is still more expensive, Mac Pro pricing is just a show to draw attention.

Maybe a magnet for the MacBook Pro to keep it shut(like the MacBook) The iMac could use more USB ports(the mini has more then it!)

I think apple should try to compete more agressively on price, so may people here at work still think that macs are extremely expensive.

The Macbook Pro should get more usb ports, firewire 800 port, the imac, mini and MBP can be made so that upgrades are easier as well, easier to upgrade memory, easier to upgrade hdd as well. I think the MBP and iMac should be easy to do that, if we do have to see the mini go a bit taller to accomplish the easier upgrades i think that would be ok as well.

a macbook with a dedicated graphics card (128 or 256mb)

or

a cheaper macbook pro!

I know.....but one can dream, can't he????;)

lcd/tvs suck im never buying one again (especially from that dirtbag company dell)

most definatley the price of macs should go down as well as their upgrade pricing. i feel its unfair to charge a $900 difference between the lowest MB and MBP.

Also my dad was on the verge of getting me a PC Laptop but when he saw the prices of comparable setups he eventually saw my way haha

I definitely agree about the upgrade pricing - $400 to upgrade to 2GB? What's that about?

However, if there wasn't a difference in price, what would distinguish the two computers apart? People already have a hard time choosing between the two. It's like saying that it's unfair to charge such a huge price difference between the Mac Mini and Mac Pro (although arguably, there is not such a big difference between the MB/MBP as there is with the Mini/Pro).

I'll say "I hope they release a 11/12/13 inch MBP" for all of us who want one. :p

FW800 and more USBs on the MBPs.

More standard RAM (1GB for all models, at least) and cheaper RAM upgrades.

Built-in iSights for the ACDs (I know the arguments against this).

Better BT mouse. I just don't like the look of the MM - something about the spherical scroll ball. Logitech knows how to do it.

Magnetic latch on the MBPs.

Improvements to iChat (coming in Leopard), Safari (faster, more like Camino), and Mail (I'm picky on this one about Mail being more like Gmail but that's only because I recently started using Mail instead of Gmail).

An Excel-like addition to iWork (the rumored "Charts" application?).

A built-in icon program where you can modify existing icons and change the icons on your system.
