Hello-

I'm interested in a backup HD for my iMac, mostly for pic storage. Probably a couple hundred GB, any idea's.

Thanks...

It seems like this questions comes up at least once a week!

...and there is the hard evidence...

Thanks everyone, that did it. I ordered a 200GB Maxtor One Touch Firewire 800 (E01V200)

Does your computer even have FW800?

No, but that model also includes USB 1.1, 2.0 and FirewireIEEE 1394A. Went with this for future compatability.
:D

So I have two of the 3.

Pretty much any HD/Firewire/USB 2.0 combo external unit will be fine. You may want to find a case with a cooling fan if you aren't too concerned with fan noise.

I recommend Seagate HDs with those new fangled hyper-something bearings, an Oxford 911 chipset, and some nice thick firewire cables. :D

Here's to the Crazy Ones
