I was looking at Toodledo, Todo, and Things.

I wanted to know if anybody had any experience with the apps. Which one lets you sync with your computer and has reminders that pop up. They all got good reviews I just want to make sure I get the bang for my buck

Look around for threads...
Anyway I can answer the last part of your question here....

As of right now, no apps can run in the background, which means that reminders popping up isn't possible unless you can somhow sync your scheduled events to iCal / calender on iPhone.

RTM (Remember The Milk) has a way to notify you via SMS or email for reminders. You need to be a pro member in order to use their iPhone app though (which is free).

"the hit list" in open beta also seems to be generating positive buzz.

i think i'll go with either -
- RTM
- Things
- the hit list

They've all got good points and none are perfect. I decided on To Do in the end, because it can sync with Toodledo's web site, and you get a pretty comprehensive list of features with a free Toodledo subscription.

You can sync from the website with iCal or (I think outlook, if you download some 3rd party software.

I prefered To Do's interface to that of Toodledo's own app. And To Do will have the ability to sync over wi-fi with iCal in the next update. But I'd have liked a Projects and Goals function in To Do - which I can fake to a degree with Tags...

Right now n my iPhone I am using Toodledo's app the most. I also have ToDo on my iPhone. Both apps seem to do the same things but there are a few things that I prefer on each.

When entering tasks in ToDo, there is a feature as to what type of task it is. If I choose to phone call it prompts me for a contact from my contact list and then fills in the task title. Same as with looking up something on the internet. Each type has a special icon that appears in the task list.

Toodledo allows for subtasks if you subscribe to their service online and the subtasks sync over to the iPhone via icons for the parent and child tasks.

However I am eagerly awaiting the release of Pocket Informant for the iPhone which will have a very strong task manager that even allows for Franklin Covey task management, which I prefer over the GTD methodthat the other two programs use. With Pocket Informant you will have the choice of Franklin Covey or GTD. Pocket Informant also will include a more robust alternative to Apple's calendar. I've used Pocket Informant on the Windows Mobile platform befre I got the iPhone and their announcement that an iPhone version was coming was one of the deciding factors of my finally getting the iPhone.

I'm using Toodledo as well. The price was right and it has all of the basic functionality that I need. I also use the Toodledo web site for entering my tasks, then my IPhone app syncs...which is very nice.

I am hoping the Toodledo app has a roadmap for new enhancements.

Procrastinate Mobile is great for Students. I use it and its free. Its not awesome, but it keeps me constantly aware of my upcoming projects every time I log into my ipod and see the number on the icon.

I use SmartTime. Its view is different than traditional todo apps and I find it works better for the way my brain operates. It does synch with Google calendar. There is a free version if you want to see what it does before you buy it.

RTM and Todo are both great! I prefer Todo's interface cause some of the buttons aren't so small and so next to each other that it's easy to accidently press the wrong button. Todo's list filters are better as well. I can keep lists on there without some of the lists showing up in my focus list.

RTM has better subtask support with it's ability to have many individual notes under one task, but you can't check those lists off as you could with the actual tasks.

SmartTime is showing great promise for task and schedule management, but it still lacks monthview calendar, something that is a 'must have' if it is to take care of events for me. SmartTime does have monthview calendar coming in an update.

Pocket Informant looks great, but it may not have all the features I need at the time of release (it will get all the features I need in later updates). Syncing to Google and Toodledo was a great idea as both are free services.

Daylite Touch looks to be the ultimate task, project, and calendar app all-in-one. I personally don't need the Project management or contacts features it has, but I really like the look of the interface so far. I'm just wondering how I would back up my data without a Mac computer (I don't have one). Can I back up to Daylite servers and how much would that cost?

Toodledo does have subtasks, but so will Todo in the near future, both require a Pro subscription to Toodledo to be able to have subtasks sync to Toodledo.

@memesmith - check out Daylite Touch's iPhone page, it looks from the app description and screenshots that Daylite Touch will have superb project management tools.

I also use ToDo along with Notebook all which sync directly to Toodledo which in turn syncs to my Google Calender and puts all of my todo's on my Google Calender. From there it syncs back to my iPhone with verbal reminder tones just like an appointment on my iPhone calender. My reminders do pop when scheduled and it is all done through syncing so I only have to make one entry on my iPhone...everything else is automated once set up. You can also use it through Outlook which will also give you the verbal alerts.

Notebook is made by the ToDo people and they are tied together. If you enter a note, you can send it as a task, it goes to toodledo then to my Google Calender and back to me through the iPhone calender.

Its very easy to set up once you are in Toodledo's web site.

Good Luck

For me it is Task2Gather. It allows you to divide tasks into subtasks, share tasks, to set up deadline and many more. At the moment it is the best task management solution for me. :)
