If anyone is having the hellish switch to iOS 18/16PM that I’ve been having - I feel your pain. Anyway. If like me your 40gb WhatsApp file on iCloud isn’t restoring and keeps failing and asking for more space on the phone even when there’s plenty, this might help as I’ve finally resolved mine.
If you can use your hold device to turn off end to end encryption on your backup. Run the back up again, you’ll probably be a day or 2 behind on your WhatsApp messages but oh well. Now restore the back up on the new phone but turn auto lock off and leave WhatsApp opening a don’t touch a damn thing. No other apps, no over cellular connection. Solid WiFi and don’t touch it. It should work.
