Hi All, I have today taken delivery of a new iPhone SE. It is to replace my Samsung note. I transferred most date across using the IOS transfer app which went smoothly.

My problem is with my what's app data. I cannot seem to transfer chat history or groups when the app is installed. Data is backed up ( just under 2GB ) but it seems its not downloading. My number remains the same.

There are videos pushing 3rd party apps claiming they can do such a transfer but I am reluctant to download apps from questionable sites.

Suggestions as to how I can resolve this issue please.

Thanks Steve

I don't believe it's possible to restore WhatsApp data to iOS from an Android backup.

Thanks you for your reply. Thats the feeling I get as well. Not one positive "I did it this way post" Seems a flaw that whats app don't want to correct. Thats a shame.

Yep cross platform switching is not possible. This is by default a limitation of end to end encrypted platforms because the requirements/ data schema aren’t the same across different platforms.

Much appreciated replies to my question. In the end I just asked groups to invite me back. ( most did  ) chat and media history remains on my old Samsung.

I thought my banking apps transfers would give me problems, turns out they were real easy. Whats app well they have me beaten thats for sure.
