Hey guys.. so I’m looking to get a Mac mini for my wife. It will pretty much be for work, and surfing the web. Her work it’s mainly opening google docs, and opening couple tabs. Just want to know if getting the basic entry model would be the best option or would it be better to spend the $300 more?

Spend half the $300 on a 1TB external SSD.
Spend a bit over a hundred on 2 4TB HD for backups. Keep BUBU, in a closet or some such. Trust the cloud at your peril.
Perhaps a bit more for another external to hold Time Machine.
Memory is currently dirt cheap. If you can do that yourself.
$200 more is too much to go for the still tiny 256GB SSD upgrade.

I would recommend the i5 model.. as an extra $300 over the base will get you better storage capacity (256GB vs 128 GB vs better read/write speeds), plus the bonus of better CPU performance (in Mojave mine scored the following):

Get 16gb at least or upgrade on your own will be a lot cheaper. I thought 8gb would be enough for the standard browsing and youtube but there was a noticeable lag but upgrading the ram fixed that.
