So, I have some headphones/mic with the 3-stripe tip that I use with my iPhone. The button on it allows me to play/pause/skip songs, and the mic works as it should. However, when I tried it on a friend's gen2 iPod Touch, none of those functions work. What's going on here? I thought it's supposed to be compatible with external mics. I'm not paying Apple $80 for headphones....that's crazy.

Apple also sells the regular headphones with remote, volume controls, and mic for $29, however the iPhone Stereo Headset is supposed to work with the 2nd gen iPod touch, so I'm not sure what happened.

Just a follow up. I bought another cheap pair of headphones with the same 3-ring tip and mic, and this one works with the Touch V2. The tip looks exactly the same as the other pair that didn't work. I have no idea what the deal is. Fring works great on it now.
