Is there a way to see what applications are constantly running on my iPhone? My battery drains really fast and Im getting really tired of charging it all the time, so last night I tried uninstalling winterboard along with all my themes and then seeing if thats what was draining my battery. When I went to bed I had 100% and when I woke up I only had 77%, so it has to be something else. Does anybody else have this problem? Can somebody help? Thanks

So I think I found out how to see what applications are constantly running on my iPhone. Its part of the bigboss thing that comes down when you swipe your finger from the top left of the iphone screen. It has an icon called "Processes" with a skull and cross bones on it. Im usuming that those are the processes that are constantly running. When I click on it it shows "Mail" & "Phone", it also has the option of deleting them.
I just want to confirm that if I delete them, that they dont delete from my iphone, but that they just stop running until I need them. Is this correct?

Ok, I can confirm that deleting items from "processes" only stops them from running at that time and does not delete them completely from the iPhone. I will try stopping mail & phone from running the processes tonight before I go to bed and let you guys know the results. Hopefully this solves the battery issue.
Edit: Never mind, every time I delete mail & phone, they just keep showing back up in the processes. I wonder if the fact that mail & phone are constantly running is what the problem with the battery's is.

I think it might be OS 3.1 that is causing the battery drain.
With 2.1 & 3.0, I only had to charge my non JB 3G every 1 to 1.5 days. With 3.1, I have to charge the phone twice a day!!!

phone and mail always run as a background process on all iPhones, the phone has to run so that if you receive a phone call it can ring and alert you and the mail is running as all push notifications for any apps go through the apple mail server and come into your phone that way. If you close them the iPhone will reopen them again.
You can turn off all of mail's fetch options in settings and kill the mail app, but that's almost certainly not what is killing your battery.
Do you ever run backgrounder? I've noticed that after I do, my battery drains really fast. Not while using it, but after I close the backgrounded apps. I assume something isn't unloading completely but I haven't looked into it, I just reboot the phone and it goes back to normal.

If possible, you should try to rejailbreak and setup as a new phone. I had this problem last week where one day I all of sudden was losing battery by 5% every 10 minutes and I wasn't even using the phone. ReJB and everything is fine. Some settings probably get crossed up and that's what caused the battery drain.
Push Email, Fetch Email, and Push Notifications will put a bit of a strain on your battery if you have those enabled. Also, if you have Backgrounder, running apps in the background will put a significant drain on your battery as well.
You could always turn off your phone at night or leave it plugged into the charger. It stops charging when it reaches 100% so you don't need to worry about overcharging it.

Processes will not show things like Winterboard, SBSettings and other tweaks that will drain your battery, just applications that are open.
It seems like your testing all the theories so if I were you try turning off LOCATION ASSISTANT... I did and it made all the difference. I'm still pushing apps and mail, wifi on a lot of the time. Try it.
