According to Crucial's advisory system, it will only handle 3GB of memory. I think Apple also said it will only handle 3GB according to their spec listing, but they also said the same thing about the Mac Pro only taking 16GB at some point. People have said it will do 32GB. So what's the verdict on the C2D MBP 2.16?

Wouldn't make much sense to throw in 2x2GB DIMMS and only get 3GB.

Anyone know for sure?

The problem is with the motherboard, it'll only recognize 3.3GB of RAM.

Throw in a 1GB and 2GB Dimm you'll lose Dual-Channel Mode.

Throw in a 2 x 2GB Dimm's and you'll end up with 3.3GB of RAM with Dual-Channel Mode.

At current RAM prices there's no reason you shouldn't have at least 2GB of RAM in your old(er) MBP's.

I don't subscribe to the Dual Channel marketing, to be honest. It already screams with 2GB but I'm always curious to know what the threshold is.

Thanks for the confirmation. I will order a 2GB DIMM.
