I'm looking at getting my girl-friend her first ipod. I'm checking out the ipod mini 6GB but can't figure out whether it comes with an external power adapter. I saw you could buy a separate one on the accessories page but that seems a bit silly.

Anybody know if its supplied besides the mentioned extras?

That sucks. Apple seems to be doing this more and more to their ipod lines. They're dropping the prices but at the same time taking all the useful (and expensive) accessories out. Sneaky.

Oh well, bought one anyway :D

Atta boy! or...er, girl! But I agree, it does suck that Apple does that... :(

I agree that Apple getting rid of the external power adapter was total bunk. Really you don't need it becuase you can just charge it through the computer but comeon! They are really cutting corners these days but I try to keep in mind that they probably did it for a good reason other than we need more money. They might have wanted to keep stock piling money to make sure they could get through the year while waiting for the x86 Macs or something.

Wow I never relized how much of a strech that is until I wrote it. Please just read the first sentence. :p

Having read all of it to get the last bit? :p
Yes there's probably a logical reason behind removing the cables and power supply adaptor but I'm guessing that it's mainly money, or at least a device to reduce the headline price. My 40GB photo is only £5 cheaper after you buy all the accessories than the price I paid for it. and I do use both the USB and Firewire cables, and the charger, and have used the AV cable more than once ;). Whether I'd have bought them separately is a different matter. Not bundling them saves Apple money and lets them say "We've reduced the price". Horses for courses though.

I know you can charge through the computer, but those 5 times a year I don't have a computer near-by its really useful to have a power adapter. Anyway, luckily I got a 3G Ipod a bit more than a year ago which came with poweradapter, case AND remote! Now that was a good deal! :)
