I have a STEWPID Literal GARBAGE monitor

Anyway, I cannot begin to tell you the number of times this stupid thing has been the reason I've tried to diagnose something only something only to find out that -- it's another one of those units which this LG chose NOT to make compatible with the default resolution! :)

Searched about 20 different variations ... some examples below of:

"Apple" "mac mini" "resolution" "EFI"
"Apple" "mac pro" "resolution" "EFI"
"Apple" "mac mini" "resolution" "startup"
"Apple" "mac pro" "resolution" "startup"

parenthesis around a single word demands it in the results --
around two terms demands the actual permutation)

According to the Literal Garbage™ manual...:
Supported resolutions: LG 27UD58-B 27-Inch 4K

RESOLUTION KHz (H) Hz (V)
640 x 480 31.469 59.94

800 x 600 37.879 60.317
1024 x 768 48.363 60
1152 x 864 54.347 60.05
1280 x 720 45 60
1280 x 1024 63.981 60.02
1600 x 900 60 60
1920 x 1080 67.5 60
2560 x 1440 88.79 59.95
3840 x 2160 67.5 30
3840 x 2160 135 60

Obviously I don't know Apple's default output res & the sync rates...and yes, it's pretty obvious that whatever they are, this monitor doesn't support it. But I'd like to figure out the exact 'miss' once and for all.

If you want to read their manual yourself ... it's downloadable here:
www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-27UD58-B.AUS

Thanks for any help anyone has...

Ha. I love that I get such 'simple questions' ...
I didn't have much hope anyone would really know the answer to this.

Perhaps just remember this as a PSA that LG will give you quasi-proprietized resolution requirements.
Such ASSHATS they are.

That is because there really isn't a default or EFI setting, the system just uses whatever information it can get from the monitor.
