Hi all,
Just jailbroke my Iphone5 on iOS 6.1 and I'm looking at the best security options. I already have find my iPhone, but was looking for further security enhancements.

I understand both igotya and icaughtya both take and send photos of anyone incorrectly entering your passcode. Is one of these better than the other? Do either of these prevent someone simply switching off your phone?

What other apps could be useful and would any of them function after a criminal tries to restore the phone? Is there anyway to continue to track the phone after this happens?

Also, I've heard of an app called Cylay... Is it useful?

I'm sure many others are interested in finding out about this topic so thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

If a thief knows what he's doing, there's nothing you can do. He'll have it restored before any security apps even have a chance to do anything. If the phone is actually lost and found by someone of good intentions, a simple message via FindMyPhone should suffice.

Of course nothing is fool proof. However, most regular crooks, or even regular people who think they've "got lucky" won't immediately know what to do, or have access to a computer to restore it.
They are probably likely to try and enter a passcode or try to shutdown the phone. I these instances, an app which takes a picture of the person in question, might be useful.

Any other, apps that help with overall security would also help.

Most people are tech savvy and just pop the sim straight away.

Its a shame their is not some form of security around the sim tray !

There are aluminum bumpers that require a specialized hex type screwdriver to take apart.
Protects your sim tray for at least a little while.

I just purchased iCaughtU Pro.

It disables turning off the device if locked, takes a picture if a failed unlock/passcode or powerdown attempt is made, emails the picture and location data, and allows you to remotely control the device via SMS commands.

As a reminder, when jailbroken, remote wipes through iCloud/Find my iPhone do not work, so if you have important data or data you do not want others to see, you must use a 3rd-party wiping application.

I couldn't get iCaughtU (not Pro) to send any emails at all, so I thought I'd give iGotYa a try, on their 10 day trial.
This is working better, and emails and SMSs are sent promptly when the passcode is entered incorrectly. However, if from the lock screen, I try to switch the phone off, no email or SMS it sent. This is equally important to me

Is this a feature only available once I purchase the app?

Thanks.

I'm still on the iGotYa trial. I have it set to send me a pic if I try to power it off from the lock screen, and it works like a champ. Definitely gonna buy it.

These are the settings I'm currently using:

Is there anything else that I need to change/update? Are there any FAQs/directions to set this up?

Thanks.

I'm on the iGotYa trial and will definitely upgrade. It is brilliant!

What do you have set under the send picture/notification?

My email address.
I've also out my number into the sms section, to test that function.

The annoying thing is, now the emails generated by enetering an incorrect passcode have also stopped (along with the sms'). It doesn't make sense! I haven't changed any settings.

I have noticed that iGotYa doesn't appear in the "location settings" list... Is this normal?

There is a tweak on cydia also called FindMyPhone which makes your IPhone ringing real loud whenever you sent to it an SMS with a predefined word.

The only con is that when it rings it can be quickly turn off from the lock screen.

I wish I had this tweak when I lose my IPhone 4 at Budapest airport (actually I did but forgot to use it under stress!)
