I was wondering whats the best messaging app for the iphone/itouch/ipad?

Whats your opinion and why you think that is more superior than the others?

I personally think PingChat 2 is the best messaging application because it looks great and works really well and they update it regularly and it is coming to the blackberry and android.

I would like to see friend requests on it and display pictures.

(I really like how BBM is for the blackberry and would like something like that on the iphone)

My wife and I are using 'Textie.'

It can send to normal SMS systems for non-Textie users, but if they register with Textie on their iPhone then the message gets routed to their Textie app and it becomes a direct messenger program. We use it all the time.

I personally think the downside of whatsapp is that it requires them to have your number which isn't convenient for everyone due to privacy reasons and would rather an unique ID thats why ping chat 2 is my preferred chat.

I've tried Whatsapp, Ping, and Yak. I personally prefer Yak messenger. I like all of it's advanced features, it's just a shame it isn't that popular.

I personally prefer texting, as I can communicate with my friends who use Blackberries, and other phones.

I prefer Messi.im

It has been around longer than Ping and Whattsap, and it works really well.

Not sure about the others, but Messi sends location, pictures, videos and text.
Also I got it when it was free, and the developer is on these forums somewhere, and gives great support.

Is there any IM app that will show delivered and read messages similar to BBM? I would like to see IM app that will at least let me know if the person I sent the msg to have verification of delivered msg. Some times with SMS the messages gets delayed or not delivered at all.

My vote is for whatsapp but I recently found out something interesting. My wife has a BB so I downloaded this app on her phone and noticed its free for 30 days and then its a 1.99/year. I thought it was odd that iphone was a one time charge but BB users have to pay annually so I sent an email to the company. They responded that everyone will be getting on the annual price plan soon where it will cost 1.99/year including iphone users.

He said current iphone whats app owners will be grandfathered into the new pricing plan as well but not immediately.
