Ok si i thought about it and have read a profound about of what seems to be my options.

Ok so i am on tmobile, have been sense day one, when my busy at the apple store recommended i save money with tzones.

Well i have a 3g basically brand new unlocked ultrasnow 3.0. So i figured i'd sell that.

Well i buy a iphone 3gs obviously, but from apple or at&t, because i have heard that if you buy it from apple then they dont have as much pull to take the phone back and you can sometimes get out without a ealry termination fee, have done it twice on sprint..

or do i buy it from at and t and does it make no difference

then it has to stay active for a month or what. Then i pay a ealry termination fee because the service sux. thats where i heard if you buy the phone from apple then you say the service is not good here at my location but want to hold on to the device for a while as i i plan to switch to at&T..

people are doing this stuff like crazy and have been sense day one whats the best route to take ..

i want to do it tonight thanks guys

My brain may be sizzling.

Are you asking (in waaaay too many words) how to get an iPhone without signing a contract with AT&T?

1) so now people have just assumed att service will stink in their area (without ever being an att customer to actually see)?....wow..att has some major Public Relations to work on.
2) buying the phone from apple or att wont make a difference when it concerns returning the phone and which would be more easy on you.
3) from what i have heard and read...you can buy the phone, sign up for the contract, then end the contract and pay the termination fee. Beyond that, I dont know to get the phone to work with other carriers.

Grammatical errors and confusion is what i have created, i apologize :(.. What i am seeking is someone who has bought a iphone 3gs from at&t and paidor didnt pay the ETF and what happened after that. I want to make sure they dont charge you for the iphone, maybe you have to use it for a month i dont know.

I have heard and tons of people on these forums have obviously already done so because there talking about mms on the 3gs and how to do it..

so people please help me i just want to do it right. I am not against at&t nor apple, i respect apple as a company and at&t some what.

However i have been using tmobile for 2 or 3 years now and got paid to help people unlock there iphones.. When its simply just reading. ultrasnow The Dev team thanks to those amazing people we have this opportunity.

Please logging for an answer on i sign for a contract then wait a month and pay the etf or dont wait a month and cancel or cellswaper and transfer my plan to someone.

thanks guys

sorry for all the confusion i create on here.

Who's "Krama"? (sorry, I HAD to)

I'm still not sure EXACTLY what you're asking, but I will tell you about an experience that is kind of along the lines of what you're asking (I think).

My friend bought a 3G ONE DAY before Apple announced the new $99 price and the 3GS. Naturally he was pissed. He knew a new iPhone was rumored but expected it to be MONTHS down the line not a week. He needed a phone so he got a 3G without thinking much of the pending announcement. Well, like I said, one day later Apple made the announcement. Nit only did he realize he just paid $200 for a phone that was HALF as good as one coming out in a week for the same price, but he also overpaid and couldn't get a $100 refund because he got it from Best Buy which didn't immediately switch to the $100 price.

He decided to cancel the service because if you do it within the first three days it's called "buyers remorse" and you don't owe a dime. AT&T made him prove the iPhone was returned by having the Best Buy Mobile salesman call them and confirm it was returned (had to give "agent numbers" and all sorts of verifications).

The point of that long story is in order for him to cancel his service he had to return the phone. Whether or not that applies to cancellations after a 30-day period I have no idea, just tryin to give you some sort of info on it.

You have to use the iPhone 3GS w/ AT&T for 30 days no matter what before canceling. After cancellation, you need to pay the ETF (there is no way out of it unless you have proof you're moving to a different country), Overall it's gonna cost you around 600 bucks. You prbly have a better chacne going into best buy and paying the full 700 dollars for a no contract ATT phone and then jailbreaking it.

Apple no longer sells them without the contract.

I just bought an iPhone 3GS 32GB from the Apple store on 23 July. Just tell them you want one without a contract and that it is a gift. No contract, no waiting, walked in and out. Got to my hotel, put in my AT&T sim (non-iphone contract) hooked it up to iTunes and activated it. I've since jailbroken/unlocked it.

If you want a non-contract phone that is all you have to do.

if you are in the US, yes buy the phone, keep it for the first month, cancel at the 30th day, and pay the termination fee. That's what I did.
