My iphone has wifi problems, it won't detect networks.
Bought in Febuary
need to get warranty service.

I really want to avoid as much downtime as possible, I need my phone. Whats my best option?
-take iphone in to genius bar, appointment or not?
-call warranty service
-other?

Any way to get on the spot replacement with transfer of all personalized information?

Make an appointment. Take it in, if it needs to go in then you can get a loaner (I think) for about $23.
Or buy a el cheapo phone from eBay or here (like I did) and have it as a backup. In the event you cannot be without your phone then it should be the phone itself that is most important and not the 101 apps you use.

for about $23. They should do it for free. This is a widespread problem =/.

My phone completely stock.

If they find something wrong at the Genius Bar, they will replace it on the spot. You won't need a loaner, whatever the cost. You will get all your personalized information back from your iTunes backup, so be sure to make a backup just before you go to the Apple Store.

The advice about making an appointment is very important. If they are busy, you won't get to talk to a genius without an appointment. And in my area they are always busy.

I would only do this over the phone if there were no Apple Store close enough to visit in person.

Yes, the whole phone. The only time I've had a loaner provided is from requesting an advance replacement through applecare. They put a hold on your credit card, but don't charge you for like 10 days. If you bring it in to a genius bar, they'll pretty much always hand you back a new one.

ok. I got my phone replaced but I learned a couple things I learned

-they won't transfer the information from the iphone to the new one for you.
-upgrade your phone now if you haven't already. Otherwise they'll upgrade there in store which they did with me. If the wifi starts working again (which for me it didn't) you might get screwed if it's just temporary = 1 more trip to store.
-your new phone won't be retail. most likely refurbished
-you'll lose your screen protector.
-after you replace the phone, make sure u test wifi, less you'll have to run to the store again.
Backup the below, you'll have to restore it yourself.
-Make sure contacts, calendar, etc or backed up.
-Make sure your pictures are backed up, itunes does not do this in windows systems. Genius B guy said you'll have to use the microsoft camera wizard.
