You should get it right now 15% off. I have it and it is a great monitor. Banding should not be a problem, since all monitors that are being shipped are rev. A02 with the fix.

i just got the 2407, it is fantastic.

the biggest difference is that the 2407 is hdcp compatible where the 05 is not, meaning it will play nicer in the future with hdtv. if you have no interest what so ever in that option, and you can find a great deal on the 05, go for it. either way, you will not be disappointed.

No idea. I just got the 2407 and hooked it up to my HP tablet. Fantastic - being able to see two documents side-by-side comfortably is something I should have done ages ago.

Not having the 2405, I don't know what the practical difference is. Judging by the web pictures however, I'd have to say the 2407 is better looking! (Nicer stand, cleaner bezel - one reason why I got it - hey I'm vain...).

I may be mistaken, but doesn't the 2407 give up the analog inputs (and maybe even the component input) in favor of the HDCP support?

In that case, I'd rather stick with my 2405 and keep the inputs. Mine is perfect–best money I've ever spent!

Besides, who cares about the cool new stand on the 2407, when you can use the money you save on the 2405 to buy a cool looking LCD swivel arm mount? :D

Nope... I don't think so. The 2407 gives me options to switch between DVI, VGA, S video, component, etc.

Well, yeah, I'd agree that a swivel arm would be cool too... never thought of it.

Still, I like the look of the 2407 a bit more... petty person that I am...

There is actually a huge difference between the two. The 2407 is fully HDCP compliant. Full HDCP compliance is needed to view the next generation of HD content at full resolution. For more information, read the information presented here. At this point in time I would not buy any TV or monitor that does not have full HDCP compliance.
