are there really that many windows apps that you like to install Windows on your mac? Im just curious, Im confused as to how this works...Do both OS' share files or are they compeltely separate, in other words is it like having two computers in 1? or if you save a file on OS X, can you use that same file when you boot into Windows?

I run XP under parallels for a couple of reasons. I have a couple of apps that I used back in my windows days that I still find invaluable. Scientific Workplace and Microsoft Money to name just two. Also, there are just enough inconsistencies between Office for Mac and Office for windows to be annoying. So if someone sends me a file they created in office for windows sometimes i need to open it in office for windows due to some incompatibilities. It saves me having to turn my old Dell box back on

Depends whether you use parallels (windows and OSX running simultaneously)
or BootCamp (windows and osx on their own separate partitions, a reboot is needed to get to the other OS).

For me it's school basically, I study economy, and a lot of the applications that we have to use is windows only.. So far I have gotten around it by doing multiple times the work necessary by doing everything in Excel, but now my MBP is just around the corner, so I'll be able to use those apps when I need to. Which is nice, nothing crucial, but still nice to have the opportunity.

Yea I'm starting to miss my favorite MMORPG where I have to be confined at home to play on my Windows desktop. I'm still thinking about is it worth forking over so much for so little...

gaming in windows is a lot better, but soon open gl might be able to match direct x in windows
