Hey guys, i was just experimenting my macbook with QuietMBP.

I se QuietMBP to 0, and ran call of duty for 30mins, then checked with coreduotemp - 93 degrees celcius. Is that safe??

Whats the limit where it isnt safe?
Will apple replace my macbook if it overheats and melts anything inside?

93°C!!! I don't have a MBP and I don't follow the numbers, but that CAN'T be right! What can others report?

I believe it.
While setting up/testin my sisters, I got hers up to 89 degrees celcius. And yes if it is under original apple care, they would most likely happily replace melted parts:)

yep 85 degrees + is attainable if u use it medium to high load.

i was basically maxing my macbook out

Driving both cores to 100% with two instances of yes >/dev/null, and using Core Duo Temp, I've seen 93ºC just as the fan was kicking on. It didn't stay there long at all, as the fan brought it down to 84-85ºC. The Core Duo is rated for operation to 100ºC.

Not talking about MBP's here. But a MB reaching 93°C would deffinantly make me worry. Call Apple

Edit: I believe the Core Duo has a security feature, shutting off when reaching 100°C. So you really should'nt worry about your MB catching fire or anything. But 93°C still seems a bit too high IMO.

I got it to 79 C for about half a second – but even when I max it out normally it never gets about 73 C.

The catastrophic protection shutdown point is 125ºC.

For those who aren't seeing high temperatures, open two terminal windows, enter the command yes >/dev/null in each and report back what you see after 5 minutes or so.

I've been rendering a lot with Blender 2.42 today with my MacBook, 100% CPU usage at 1.83Ghz. The temperatures sure get high. First it rises in no more than ~10 seconds to 96°C. Then the fans kick and if you are in a quiet room, it sounds like a jet is taking off. The temperature then varies from 80-90°C, all the way until the rendering is complete. Still, the exterior temperature doesn't get too bad if its on a table. Too hot to hold on a lap, though.

So...( im sure that there are threads 'bout this sumwhere... )... is there anyway to make macbooks/pros not get as BLEEDING HOT!

I mean what do you have to do? take it back? thermal stuff :-S ? What :( ?

Cheerz.

Mine max's out at about 82c. That's only when I'm encoding video into h.264 though. When I'm just running normal apps it never goes about 60.
