Although it may change between now and April 3rd where do we stand? The software is out as they are encouraging people to build apps for it...

...definitely within a few weeks of release
... or we won't know until it's out how hard it will be
Anybody in the know?

I'm mostly put off by the price, at $400 I could live with a closed system, but paying $500 at least I'd want to have a little more customization on the look and flow of it, even if there's not that many apps worth adding outside the app store.

Thanks!

Oh... the dev team cracked the iPad last year. didn't you hear?

this thread? really? I mean - really?

Sue me for taking that into my purchasing decision.

Long live the internet!

Since no one has the iPad and can actually test anything on the actual OS - I think it's safe to say that nothing, concrete has been done - no? Wouldn't that be a safe answer?

Not exactly. The iPhone OS 3.2 SDK is out, but there is no iPhone OS 3.2 firmware (i.e. the software you are actually talking about), so there is nothing to jailbreak yet.

That is not a real iPad. There was a thread about this when that video was released shortly after the iPad announcement. Here is how you can tell:
