What's the word on the drive that came with my Mac Pro? - WD2500AAJS (250GB)

I'm not having any issues with it. Just curious if this is what comes with most Mac Pros, is it a drive with a decent reputation? How does it fair in terms of how quiet it is compared to other drives?

Googled that part number, its a Western Digital Caviar SE? I always thought they put Seagate Barracudas in the Mac Pro.

Never used the 250gig drive that came with my Mac Pro. I pulled it out 2 minutes after opening my Mac Pro's shipping box. Put in my 150gig Raptor and 320gig Seagate drive and never looked back.

Right now that 250gig drive is sitting in the wife's old PC. I used it as a clone drive while I swapped hardware around. I think I'm going to load Vista on that PC, with a TV tuner, and use it as a Tivo.

As a rule, Apple has very few hardware alliances and prefers to go for the cheapest satisfactory component at the time. For what it's worth, I've had no problems with the 250GB Western Digital drive in my iMac.

Hey, I remember Barefeats once said there was a problem with some of the Seagates and how they worked in Mac Pros. Has that issues been resolved? Sounds like it has.

Depends on your mac pro. I have heard some people getting either or. I ordered my system with the 160gb drive and it is a seagate.

their recent reports say that the latest firmware versions have corrected all problems with the seagate drives.
