As per title. Anyone know what it is? It's annoying me as it looks a little messy compared with the flushness of OSX. The little black thing next to Help.

I think it is the scripting icon. Did you click it to see what it shows?
 
Lol should have explained a little better.

Picture here. At a guess it's for my ipod touch remote?

But unsure how to get rid of it.

Yeah, I think those are scripts, and that icon lists them for you.
 
Yes it is because you have scripts

To get rid of the menu you need to delete ~/Library/iTunes/Scripts but you'll of course lose the scripts then
 
Here's a better way to deal with the Script icon.

Go to Applications, and select AppleScript Utility in the AppleScript folder. This will bring up the AppleScript utility, much like a System Preference pane. In the bottom half (on Leopard anyway), you will find a checkbox for "Show Script menu in menu bar." Uncheck it, and poof! No more annoying icon, and you haven't lost any important scripts either.
