Hi so I was installing Screaming Frog a SEO app on my mac and all of a sudden a pop up appeared which said "Bash would like to receive keystrokes from any application"

I was given option of deny or Open System preferences. Naturally I clicked on Deny. I'd like to know what triggered this message?! Please advise. Thanks!

The app must use the bash shell for some reason. Perhaps the app has a command-line (terminal) mode?

I read that faq.. it’s very strange for seo spider to run a shell script while installing. Anyways I pressed on deny.

What's being launched by a shellscript got to do with later explicitly trying to use some Accessibility API?

Apple is trying to prevent apps from surreptitiously installing keyloggers. Unfortunately, Catalina isn't designed to be used by power users.
