Maybe this is obvious to some of you, but, at the top and in the middle, what is the icon (kind of like an N or a sideways Z?) next to my ringtone icon?

I thought it might be that your NFC was turned on but the symbol looks slightly different on mine, you might want to check to see if your NFC is switched on though.

Settings>Connections>NFC.

Not sure it will, but hope it helps. :)

It is the NFC symbol. Not all devices use the same symbol. I know HTC uses that symbol. Samsung uses a normal looking capital N with a small wifi symbol at the bottom left corner of the N.

You're right about that being the NFC symbol, however not the Samsung part. At least not on my GS4. The GS4 has that same symbol in the status bar.

It must be a regional thing, here's the NFC icon on my SGS4 (UK). :)
