From the beginning, Cult of Mac has been a a pretty decent news provider, but lately more and more of its crew has started to deliver questionable material.
It first started with a lot of "deals" disguised as articles. And now a lot of irrelevant articles are popping up. One article was almost a pure copy-paste job regarding some drone no-fly zone site, and even an article was posted regarding a stupid dress! Who really cares about dresses? It used to be a Cult of Mac, now its Cult of Crap.
I do get some days are slower news days, but its better to post less stuff, please don't post crap.
Readers today have a great choice of Mac and Apple related sites. Macrumors, 9to5mac and Apple World Today are great sources within the no-crap-zone. Cult of Mac are decreasing their relevance step by step the way they are operating now. I have stated this in their comments to the articles filled with irrelevant crap, but the comments have been censored. During the brief time they where visible, I got a lot of upvotes, so Im not the only one feeling CoM has turned for the worse.
For me, Cult of Mac is history, its links are removed from homescreen and dock.

I used to go to that site for mac news before I shifted to macrumors. I am not sure if they are part of Wired magazines, I think they used to be the mac blog of Wired magazine.

Its been like a good few years since I stopped going over there, they news is trash and most of their post are about deals which I am not sure who picks up because there is almost no interaction on their website.

Reminds me of SpyMac

I prefer MacRumours myself, ans well as 9to5mac, and have given the brand new AppleWorld.today a chance. Its TUAW pre crap era, refreshing :)
MacRumours is great for its forums. I love it here.

You're just noticing this now? I ditched CoM well over a year ago.

I have noticed the decline for a time now, but I did stick in the hope they would get back to the core of their site. But its just getting worse every day now..

I stopped going there when they start posting NSFW "articles", such as when they had an article for an iPad attachment that doubled as a blow up doll (in usage).

It was classless, the third time I saw such content in about a month, and I left them a farewell notice.

I liked their frequency of posts (10-25 / day), but seeing that at work (on break), made me rethink going there.

I'll second that.

They had become remarkably inbred as well. I had to wonder actually what their knowledge and experience extended to, other than simply talking to themselves.

No rumour site is perfect. They all have their agenda. And they all write advertising articles every so often and put these articles on their front pages. Cult of Mac just got really bad with it and hardly any good news was popping up.

Here - MR on the other hand is better than most with this and that's why I've chosen to stay here. And as an added bonus most of the community is relatively friendly here too. I'm glad I chose this place to participate in.

Cult of Mac seemed to turn into an actual cult in my opinion. Very biased articles. An unhealthy hatred towards Samsung. Sloppy and opinionated journalism.

Well IMHO MacRumors is just as guilty of increasingly inserting non-Mac non-Apple-relevant news all the time.

Maybe Cult of Mac's decline is a sad warning (caution) of what happens when the apple falls too far from the AppleNews tree….

Very very true. But it's Apple relevant news is still relatively good.
Never said it was.
I never said you did. I was just making the point that Cult of Mac is doing now what the newspapers have been doing for decades.

i remember that site, some sites go down hill cause some sites are too strict with rules like banning then people stop going to those sites and the tech sites lose views then they lose their sponsors which only look at website views
