So I installed the MobileChat app, added my msn info along with my mobileme info, and when I went to my buddy list, among the people that were online, there were a bunch of other things like ads. I think one thing was called "moviefone", "gossipingabby", "IM Street in Da House!", among many others..

Now, I thought I paid $2.99 for this app, so why the heck does it have ads and all kinds of BS? I just want my contact list, and nothing else!

Anybody know what's up with this?

That isn't MobileChat doing that, it is the AIM service that your MobileMe account connects to, they are bots that you can IM questions to and get automated replies, I find them really annoying and one reason I don't use AIM at all as from memory you can't delete them as they keep coming back.

I see, so in other words, use the aim client on the iPhone for mobileme? I don't remember seeing that kinda thing on the AIM app.

I haven't had one of these added in a long time, but I've never had an trouble deleting them. They've never come back when I've done so. (I use Trillian on the PC and iChat on the Mac, not the AOL client. Does that have anything to do with my success at banishing the bots?)

Weird. I haven't had this happen in years UNTIL yesterday. I had one pop up that was related to the upcoming US Election.

Hmm.. Problem is though, at least on this MobileChat app, I can't delete the bots. At least, not that I have noticed yet...

That's annoying. Glad I didn't buy it.

like someone has already said, its not a mobile chat problem. it's something AIM sets as standard unless you delete them or add different ones. Just login to iChat, Adium, or whatever client you use and delete them from your buddy list.
