Lately I'm getting an error message that "Yahoo can't verify the identity of the website "login.yahoo.net." Can I assume that their Yahoo.com certificate has expired or something? I get more or less the same message in Safari, Opera and SW Iron (which is basically Chrome). What should I do, if anything?

My dad called me the past two days and said he was having this problem. I had him check the time on the computer to make sure it was correct and it was. I really don't feel like going over there to mess with it so hopefully a quick fix I can walk him through over the phone.

I installed the latest Snow Leopard update the other day; maybe that screwed something up?

I've heard of the incorrect date/time causing the issue, but my date/time is being fed directly from Apple so all is well there. i get feeling Yahoo has somehow dropped the ball on updating the certificates from their end. The people who aren't currently experiencing that message may have logged in a while back, before the old certificate expired....Not that I know what I'm talking about....

Don't think it had anything to do with any mac updates. Think its just yahoo sucking. Unless the mac did it on its own my dad usually calls me anytime the computer ask him to do anything and I haven't done any maintenance to it in about 3 months.

Certificates say 12/10/10 until 1/3/13 for me.

Well, there seems to be all manner of other cascading weirdness going on now, so I'm just going to nuke every possible issue by reinstalling the OS. Nothing quite so satisfying after a frustrating day of tech difficulties as the massive overkill response. :D
