What's with 7-10 day shipping with 15" MBP's. New machines on the way?

All 15" MBP's have a 7-10 day ship time. In addition most stores are dangerously low on stock. Replacement time already? Did't they just get updated. Or is it just component shortage.

Apparently the LEDs are in short supply. They just updated them, there will be nothing new for months.

The build order for my new MBP went in on Aug 27th and at that time the site was showing a shipping date of Sept 6th - Sept 11th. Reality was pleasantly different....... The computer was finished and ready for shipping on Aug 29th and shipped out of Shanghai on the 30th.

No one can definitively state that there is not another update coming, however considering that the MBP's just received a major update in June I don't think another update will be coming until sometime around Q2 of '08.

Any delays that have been happening so far are more attributable to an extremely high demand than anything else. Apple may have also been addressing some technical issues as well but I've not seen any corroborating information on the various Apple news sites.

Exactly. The MBP is brand new as of June 15. How can you possably expect another update before next Spring '08 when they'll go 45nm Penryn?

My build order went in the same day - would be great if it shipped as quickly as yours but no sign of that happening yet

Just out of curiosity, was this a customized MBP or stock? Just ordered my 15" 2.4 MBP w/ Glossy screen (which im assuming would make it a build to order, right?) on the 29th and I'm hoping that I'll be as lucky as you and have my MBP ship either tomorrow or the next!

Can we also give the yellowing issue a rest? This is such a crock. there are nothing wrong with the screen except the collective Neurosis around here...
