only one update in 5 months when the iPhone 4 releases they. ring about 3 updates in 5 months and the 4s only have 1

They are just going to release 5.1 instead of 5.0x. Rest assured none of the battery issues have been fixed.

I had a problem with my 4S battery on 5.0. After 5.01 all my battery issues have been fixed.

Are you saying they should release updates just for the sake of releasing them? Personally, I would rather wait until they fix something before updating my phone.

I believe this occurred with iOS 4 as well. Updates few and far between and people creating almost identical threads. I'm not making any comments on this, other then stating an observation.

1) Less problems left ...
2) reduce testing and deployment effort with all the different models (WiFi, 3G, CDMA)
3) combine with iOS 5.3 for iPad 3 (skipping .1 and .2 for marketing reasons only)

A lot of this has to do with how quickly the thing was jailbroken. Apple loves to push a patch for that as soon as they can. You can bet this will be included in 5.1, along with some other minor tweaks such as deleting photostream photos individually, tweaking the camera at lockscreen functionality, and a few other things that I am blanking on now.

I am quite surprised that Apple have only released 1 update since the release of iOS 5 & the iPhone 4S.

Hopefully the final 5.1 build will solve most of the issues people have been having & improve the 4S battery life.

Releasing updates for the hell of it would be silly though. Say there were 10 updates. What difference would it make if they were all so miniscule that nothing really changed? 5.0.1 works really well for me. I'm not an Apple fangirl either. Just stating what I've noticed.

How about updating Siri so it has all the US features in the other initial release countries?

And dropping the misleading 'Beta' tag!

Siri being updated would not require an iPhone system update. All theyd need to do is update the server that powers Siri.

I hear you...however they do it I wish they would get a move on...half a year now...and it's not as if the initial countries are in the middle of nowhere!!:(

I have been using 5.1 since the last beta release and I can say all my battery issues on my 4S have been fixed.

I have noticed a continuous upgrade to Siri, mainly to the stuff she/he understands, as opposed to new functionality. Before I couldn't say "Wake me up at 1 o'clock", I had to say "set the alarm for 1 pm". Now it just works.
