I just bought a 20'' 2.4 GHz iMac three days and am loving it so far.

But there's a strange glitch. Sometimes when I do expose and click on iTunes, the album artwork will turn into this:
attachment.php

WTH is this? A glitch?

And secondly, my expose's animation is so damn choppy. Not as smooth as I've experienced before on other iMacs. Any resolution for this issue?

Thanks!

Looks to me like your GPU is overheating/failing I would call Apple Care ASAP. Actually in your case I would return it and get a new one.

Crap, are you serious?

DAMN. I do not want to drive back to the apple store.
arghhh....

am I unlucky or does this happen all the time?

I thought mac desktops were reliable...

I hate going back to the store...
and with gas prices....

and I'm afraid I don't be able to replicate the problem. it happened several times before but I didn't think too much of it.
I turned off my computer and turned it back on and it's fine right now.

edit: nvm...it happened again. so I guess it's easy to replicate.

Definately take it back and get a new one. It's worth the gas money to have no future headaches. But this is very rare maybe less then a 5% occurrence, hardware is hardware and it can always fail.

so I got a new iMac.

and the problem still exists. wow. this time, however, the problem occurs not as often (it has only happened once so far). I googled this problem and I came up with this.

I think this is a graphics card driver issue. I doubt I received another computer with a faulty graphics card. it happens when you have a bunch of windows open while quickly activating expose, switching from another application to itunes and repeating it. why don't you guys try it and see if it happens to you.

should I try resetting PRAM and NVRAM?

resetting the PRAM and NVRAM doesn't work.

resetting the SMC doesn't work...

this is getting so frustrating...anyone have any suggestions?

I have a feeling it is due to the very low-end graphics card. I doubt this will happen on the higher-end iMacs.

edit: apple support is telling me that it's a corrupted itunes-related file (either plugin or song). I really doubt this is the issue. they're telling me if I want further assistance, I have to reinstall the operating system and don't import my backup music. I really don't want to do this!
