I've had my imac for 2 yrs now and haven't had any problems up until now. Now it's running slower to start up and my mouse is moving on it's own. I don't use a mouse pad and I haven't had this problem until recently. Could someone be hacking in my computer? Could I have a virus? I have been watching movies online but I don't download anything BUT the problem has happened after I watch movies. Could I have done something to cause this?

have you enabled screen sharing at all? I found some russian IPs trying to access my Mac Pro a few yrs ago when I had to use a loaner router that mapped the external VNC port to my internal network. Check in prefs/sharing
then I would have a peek at the router also and check the logs (open term and type 'sudo dmesg' for starters....
(also a repair permissions in disk utility wouldn't hurt it.)
I checked about the sharing and no boxes were checked to enable it. I don't understand how to do the other stuff. I am doing a trial of Virus Barrier X6 by Intego. Hopefully that will help and I may even buy it if I like it...we shall see.
Before jumping to the generally unlikely conclusion of hacking or viruses...

When you say your mouse moves on its own, does it happen when you're using the mouse as well? Or, only when you're not using it? Is it also slight movements or big movements? Does it actually click stuff? Is your mouse wireless?
Startup... Is it taking more time in the gray loading screen? Or is it just taking more time afterwards for stuff like applications and windows to reopen after login? Do you have a lot of USB devices plugged in?

LoL...I know I'm paranoid.
My mouse is moving in opposite directions when I am using it and once it went all the way up and down like two times when I didn't have my hand on it. But it never clicks on anything. My mouse is not wireless.
Startup is taking more time in the gray screen and YES I have a USB device plugged in! You are GOOD! Is that my problem?
I've had times when the cursor for my wireless mighty mouse on my old iMac would randomly "freefall" down my screen, and I don't know why, but I don't ever think I had it move up on its own. I don't think I've ever had that problem with a wired mouse, but I can't be sure. It was by no means a virus or hacking, just some glitch in the hardware.
I've tried the blowing thing already with no luck. I did some investigating and I found that this is a common problem with Macs. There seems to be a lot of other people out there with a mouse that has a mind of it's own.
