What's wrong with Safari and Youtube? - Solved

Do you have issues playing videos in YouTube using Safari?

Mine makes a mess with display. It blinks the display!!

Works perfectly fine for me on an M1 MBA running Safari 15.3.

seems ok here (just checked). do you have an ad blocker installed? IF so, try disabling for youtube (if not, maybe try signing out/back in?)....

Adguard is a particular culprit. With that installed, you can only get initial comments in YT and sometimes not even that. Any attempt to expand the nested comments just gives you a swirling wheel as YT tries to load the comments and fails. Safari is so buggy these days that I have had to dump it in favour of Mozilla equivalents.

Pro-tip for Youtube. Forget Safari - try some flavour of Mozilla like Waterfox and install "Enhancer for Youtube" add-on. No more adverts interrupting playback and it doesn't affect the comments section. Not available for Safari, sadly.
