So i just got my phone on christmas, and I was texting people during the day and it seemed that I wasnt getting their Text messages right away..so yesterday i was with my girlfriend and texted her sitting right next to me to see what would happen, she got mine almost instantly but when I had her send something back it took 5 minutes before I got it...whats wrong with it? is it my phone? is it the network? can i do anything to fix it?

It's the crap-ola network. Several of my co-workers have att and sometimes they don't receive text messages for 24 hours. One instance I sent a text about a party on sunday afternoon and my co-worker received it monday afternoon.

Mind you I have t-mobile... BUT They have the same issues when sending messages to eachother.

Im 99.9% sure its AT&T's network. I've had this problem repeat itself for the last few years with AT&T. It doesn't matter what kind of phone you have.
I think their paging channel gets bogged down or something.

Reboot your phone? Sometimes text delays are due to tower issues and a reboot forces a new tower connection.

ALL cell companies have text delays and weird issues. I've had problems with AT&T, but I've also had friends who have had issues with Verizon.

If you continue to have issues, pop your SIM into a different phone and test the text delay, then try it with a new iPhone. But unless everyone in your area is having similar delays then it's something weird with your connection.

I had a Moto Razor that did the same thing. Sometimes it took 2 days to get a txt. I have called AT&T several times about the issue over the past couple of years. Sometimes it only happened to me, but a few times if was happening to everyone I knew with AT&T (in my area anyway). Its a very common thing.

I think it's a problem on every network. I used to have the same problem with
Verizon. It wouldn't just be texts though, I would have my phone sitting next to me on my desk and all of a sudden it would light up saying I had a missed call and a voicemail.

It was easy for me to switch from Verizon because SMS to my girlfriend on T-Mobile and a friend on AT&T were very unpredictable.
