Hey, so I've seen multiple posts and threads about people wanting something that is obtainable through winterboard, but they don't want to download Winterboard in order to get it. Ex Slide to unlock.
Why do people try to avoid winterboard? Is it glitched? Does it slow down the iPhone or what's so bad about it?

It works great on a 3GS. It will slow down a 3G though since it uses up ram.

+2 I'm using it with no problems at all. But I am using a 3Gs. I run a full theme along with about 6 other add-on things, no slow downs that I can see and no hangs, etc.

I've used Winterboard on every iteration of iPhone OS that I've had (since 1.0.2) and have never found it to be a problem. All I use it for though is "User Wallpaper"

Oh I see, so basically all it does is perhaps slow down the iPhone by a bit?
Not a cause glitches or crashes or anything? Interesting.

Maybe. And, maybe if you use a bunch of themes. All I have steadily done is use "User Wallpaper" ... which I definitely do not think slows anything down.

I've tried "themes" through Winterboard in earlier OS versions, and I think that this has causes it to slow down.
But when you stick to just "User Wallpaper", it doesn't really slow anything down.
