Well if I don’t count cellular, I’ve been with AT&T since I got my first home phone line as an adult. I didn’t realize AT&T was in the celluar world before they bought out Cingular (probably just wasn’t as big at the time as some of the other cellular providers), but maybe they were just adding to cellular they already had.

Goodness yes I remember the dropped calls, and poor data. Heck sometimes I still experience the poor data. ;-p

Our service out here isn’t nearly what it once was. I have complained and complained, but they just haven’t done anything to improve it. I’m always hoping. The problem is, Verizon really doesn’t do much better here, so it’s not worth the effort to switch.

If I got better WiFi, it would be even less of an issue, but we can only get satellite (we couldn’t even get enough signal for AT&T’s fixed wireless), and it’s just really inconsistent during bad weather, which we tend to have fairly often.

Maybe with the expansion of First Net AT&T will get better for you.

What rural area you live in? We live in Philadelphia and obviously pretty dense with lots of capacity

I’m in Louisiana. I get good coverage in the bigger cities, but our coverage is awful - lots of dead spots when driving out of here. I’m always sending the “mark my spot” crap to AT&T, but I guess they just ignore it. We have an AT&T store about 20 minutes away. I swear when you’re in that store, their service is awful - even the WiFi there sucks. It’s the weirdest thing.

Apparently where we are situated, we are falling in the middle of 2 towers, but not really close enough to either one to get very good service.

Have you ever known anyone to move because of bad cell service/WiFi? I always tell my husband that could make me leave here.

What is that? I haven’t heard about it. It’s probably wishful thinking though. We are always at the bottom of the barrel for stuff. I’d just be happy to get better cellular so I could get fixed internet with AT&T and ditch the satellite. We pay a fortune for that crap.

It’s basically a contract with the government to provide service to First Responders Band 14. So this will eventually expand coverage to rural and under served areas and regions. First Responders have priority on the network in disasters and such.

I’ve done some research on this because I wanted to know if this applies to regular customers like us. In general because I’m not technical it does apply cause of the mandated expansion of Band 14 and I also have read and watched that as First Net which is AT&T puts up towers in under served areas they will also put up other bands.

This is the layman’s jist on this. Others I would appreciate to correct me if I’m wrong or add to it.

So I would say since it’s a mandated contract you’re area will get eventually served with better service.

I would say that eventually because of First Net they will have the best coverage between all carriers.

Here’s the First Net site...

Nice!

These days the best deals can be had when you port between carriers (discounted phone, rebate card, etc.).

For sure. Now that I know I have a corporate discount, I realize that I get $10 off the Unlimited Elite plan. Thinking on if i should get it especially since you get HBO Max with it too.

Does anyone use redpocket att for their iPhone? They got a special going in and I wanted to ask for any current or former subscribers.

I switched from ATT to Verizon in March - got a better package for less than half the price I was paying before. We don't have T-Mobile/Sprint up here, so the only other option is a local provider who piggybacks on T-Mobile in the lower 48 with limited success. With the changes Verizon just made to their plans this week, they have actually provided more overall value without jacking up their rates.

Actually AT&T elite plan provides the same value overall if you compare the 2.

I’m 4 days in with Verizon from T-Mobile and the service is so much better! I was paying a little less with T-Mobile and had bad coverage for the last 16 months. I don’t have my employee discount but I get a discount on accessories, free Apple Music, better coverage and more 4G/LTE (T-Mobile only gave me 50GB a month).

I remember when I was excited switching to T-Mobile. They were alright data speed wise, but I've run into places were I have had zero coverage when I had coverage in the past. AT&T gave me $250 for switching so I made the switch.

I have been with T-Mobile for almost 20 years now. I just enjoy the company and customer service. I have rarely had any issues with service including at my cabin in the woods where they provided me with a free wifi router so I could use wifi calling out there since I am quite a distance from their tower. I currently pay $95 per month including tax for 2 unlimited phone lines, 1 iPad and 1 Apple Watch. Yes, I am grandfathered on some great plans. They always let me take part in the phone upgrade programs including a free phone 4 years ago and big discount 2 years ago, waiting to see what I can get the iPhone 12 for when it comes out.

Yeah, T-Mobile Customer service has been good to me too. Sadly, the coverage isn’t too great in my area. I may give them a try again in a few years to see.

For me, having good signal inside a building is a must and when I had AT&T, I get very poor reception. However with Verizon I get great reception inside. I guess it depends on location of where you live.

It may be Verizon has more DAS systems inside buildings than AT&T or T-Mobile.

T-Mobile. I‘m grandfathered in on a plan with that I get free unlimited texting and data abroad. The data is slow but it works well enough. It totally worth it and better than getting three SIM cards when we travel for most places we visit.

Same here. Free data, texting and cheap calls. When I visit my son in the Middle East it saves me a ton and lets me enjoy using my phone.

I had T-Mobile 10 years ago, switched to Sprint for 2 years and then switched back to T-Mobile when that contract was up. I then stayed with them for 6.5 years before switching to Verizon. I will admit, they have great customer service but poor coverage where I have traveled. I was in Florida last summer for 13 days, and if it wasn’t for the WiFi in the house, I would’ve had to drive 2 miles from the house to get coverage. For the last 16 months, I’ve been dealing with dropped calls and spotty service and I figured now is the time to switch. I don’t travel outside of the country so I’m not worried about that. My phone is unlocked so if I have to travel outside of the country I could just buy a SIM card there.

I’m not sure what I’ll do this year. I mean. I want to get the fold 2 on Verizon. The note ultra on AT&T. And I want two iPhones this year. Most likely one of them will be on T-Mobile. Idk. What do you think I should do? Lol

Yeah, I live in Florida and unless you are in one of the major cities, coverage is very poor. I like T-Mobile and want to give them a chance, but I just can't with poor coverage.

Verizon coverage is poor in Florida?

No, Verizon is great, they are just super expensive. I had Verizon first, then switched to T-Mobile and now AT&T. Pretty much it’s Verizon and AT&T neck in neck in Florida and T-mobile is last.

Ok thanks. I know when we go to Clearwater / Tampa AT&T is very good.
