Dear all,
I am using iPhone 11 Pro and I think there might have been some update of whatsapp. Do any of you have this kind of problem?
As I access my phone and go to the whatsapp app, it will automatically take me to specific conversation. Previously I would simply open the app and would see all conversation, but since 2 days it always takes me to one of the conversations directly without me wanting to go there. Anyone has the same?

Could be. Can it be changed to how it was before?
I don’t see any such option in WhatsApp.
But isn’t this how it should be? If I close iMessage, it opens with the last viewed conversation. Same in Mail. Same with tabs in Safari. Etc.

Nope. when I closed whatsapp before this change it always opened to see all conversations, not a specific one.

Thanks. Just wrote to them. It is so weird. Why am I taken to the most recent conversation? I do not want to go there, I want to go to a different conversation ans this way I need to exit the one I do not need and access the one I want. Crazy.

Maybe just uninstall and reinstall?

I still don’t understand how the current behavior is so weird or crazy? This is the behavior in Mail, Messages, Safari, and any other app I can think of.

I have this update too and really don’t like it. When I open whatsapp now, it’s slower than previous versions

In the latest version of whatsapp, when you open it, it will show the main chat window first for a second before sending you to the last opened chat. I’d rather it stops at the main page instead of sending me to a specific conversation because it’s slower now. It’s weird probably because we’re already used to the old way 😁

any ideas if it is possible to get back to the previous version?

You’re complaining about the animation? It only happens if you quit the app. If you just go to the home screen and then open WhatsApp again, there is no animation, it goes directly to the most recently opened chat.

I still haven’t gotten a good answer though to why this behavior is bad. If I have a specific tab in Safari open, go to the home screen, and then open Safari again, don’t I want Safari to show that tab?

If you have ANY iOS app open, go back to the home screen, and then open the app again, ALL OF THEM will show the last viewed screen. This is how iOS is supposed to work.

If you don’t want this, the only solution is to swipe right (to go back to the main chat window) before going back to the home screen.

Because even when you completely close the app and restart it, it will still bring you back to the most recent conversation. It makes no sense. Yeah if I just exit to the home screen and go back to the app I’d want it to save my progress, but if I’m literally restarting the app it’s because I don’t want it to be on the same screen when I open it! I don’t like to read messages until I’m ready to respond to them so that I don’t leave people on read and so that the notification being there reminds me to respond. But if I forget to close out of a chat and that person messages me after that, it means I can’t reply to ANY other messages from anyone because there is no possible way to open whatsapp without viewing that person’s messages. I don’t know why they would set it up this way.
