Now if only that other app by that tiny dev studio in Mountain View could push out dark mode to all it’s users.

System wide dark mode has to be on, then WhatsApp will also be dark mode.

dayum. My iPhone has been plugged in and connected to my home wifi every night yet only after seeing this thread and “manually” having to update in 13.3.1 to pull down this update ... finally dark mode ! Enabled automatically on my iPhone 8 since system wide I’m in Dark Mode all day e’er day!

Yeah, annoying there isn’t an individual setting for people who don’t default to dark mode. Me, dark mode all the way, whenever I see a phone* not in that mode my reaction is MY EYES MY EYES!

*And the Gmail app 🙄 Not rolled out to me yet, tsk.
