To everyone's surprise, it turns out that despite their promises – alas – I MUST accept Whatsapp's "privacy" policy if I want to use it at all.
Is there a way to at least limit what they're accessing? I'm in the EU. EU "requested" that Whatsapp doesn't force me to accept yet. Apparently the request has not been granted. I've actually read the "privacy" policy and – nope.
I've got Signal already. However, my Mum, Grandma, etc. are extremely unlikely to switch to another messaging app – I don't think they understand what privacy policy is, really… Has anybody found a way around this? (I assume no.) Or to block them from accessing at least some of the data Facebook wants? I left the Android ecosystem and bought an iPhone specifically so that I don't have to install Facebook or Instagram on it…
