Tomtom announced that their application will be available when 3.0 is released, does this mean that their application or any other App's that require 3.0 ( or at launch of;) will be out today ?

Also, does anyone know the new application ( 3rd Party) that will only be available when 3.0 is released ?

No TomTom didn't. They announced their app would be available "Later this summer."

Technically, it will be released when 3.0 is out. Just not the same day.

I was wondering something similar about 3GS. Given the superior specs of the GS, how will Apple identify that apps are GS only? Do you think that iTunes will block you from buying the apps by accident? I'd hate to think folks are going to buy an app that needs a compass and they don't have one.

haha, good point, they should at least have some distinctive feature between which models the App will work on ? ( Like a personalized big red button that says' Don't buy this App ! ) tailored made to each customer and their iPhone :p

When developers submit their app they can select which devices their application work on. In iTunes on the computer it states what devices the app can work with, on your device it won't let it download if it doesn't work on your device.

sometimes the developer will not let you install the app on the device even if it is compatible. i.e. voice recording apps can work on the iPod Touch 2g but some of the applications require you to have an iPhone. when this happens you can always just go into the .ipa and edit one of the .plist files to allow it.

Assuming your phone is jailbroken.
