I keep waiting because these leakers keep saying they're coming at the next event... Then the next event comes and nothing... Really would like the wireless charging case, but I hate the idea of buying now only for a redesign to come out next month. Need these OG AirPods to keep hanging on, just about 5 years old now.

But to answer your question, I have no idea. Wish I did because it would make my current purchase decision a lot easier.

Same here I need to buy a new pair of AirPods as my three year old pair is acting up and the mic on one side isn’t working so I don’t want to get a new pair of AirPods 2 and then have the new one come out next month. I was hoping we would hear about it yesterday as that’s what all the leakers said was going to happen but it didn’t happen as we all know

October event?

Shadow drop around holidays?

Sometime next year?
The only honest answer is that we don't really know. All three of the options you suggest are real possibilities. The various leakers/supply chain reporters can give some context, but even the more reputable ones get stuff wrong all the time.

I think we can infer that the design has been finished for some time, but there are serious constraints in manufacturing them (or more specifically, the successor to the H1 chip) in sufficient quantities. Quite how quickly this can be overcome is impossible to say.

At this point, I am not going to trust any "leaks" for AirPods anymore. We've been told by "reputable" leakers that new AirPods are ready for launch since the beginning of the year.

Leakers: new AirPods at March event!
Apple: How about no.
Leakers: new AirPods coming summer for WWDC for sure now, they are ready for shipment!
Apple: Yeah...still no.
Leakers a few days ago: AirPods 3 coming DEFINITELY with the new iPhone event, also new flat redesigned Apple Watch, and bronze colored iPhone, just trust me bro!
Apple: Lol, we got you good, fam!

Yep - I think as others have alluded that Apple is subject to some significant chip shortages. (is it just me, or why the f*** would they put a 2 year old chip in NEW iPads?!?!) Me, I think that's it. (also AW7 has the same SOC as the AW6).

Yes, colour me significantly disappointed. I have the original AirPods - already replaced the right one and the left one is really messing up - to the point I don't hardly use them at all anymore. Was REALLY hoping I would be ordering the AP3's on Friday!!! *sigh*

Hurry the f*** up Apple!!! :(
