Hello

My Uncle works for Apple Inc. and I was about to buy my 2.4 Ghz mbp tonight with his 20% employee discount when it said it wasn't available for him to buy. Is it because it hasn't even been a week since the update of the MBP line? or what? Does anyone know when they will be available through employee discounts? Thanks...

no clue with apple, but from my experience with the Sony Store, employees will be able to buy newly released products within 2 wks of its release using their discount, give or take 1-2 days.

Is there a restriction on how often he can buy a new computer? Educational buyers are limited to one new unit per year.

A friend of mine used to work for Apple Canada. She got one 25% discount per year, and I think 4 15% discounts per year. Once she used those, she couldn't use any more until the end of the year. Apple U.S. might structure its employee discounts differently. If your uncle has bought a lot from Apple in the last year, that might be why it doesn't work.

OTOH, maybe it just isn't usable for brand new products which they already have difficulty keeping in stock.

use the search - iirc there's a thread about a former apple specialist and he mentioned employee discount.
